Unofficial release of MyxerCodes (shh…)

Hey, everybody.

Don’t know if anyone noticed, but we’ve quietly added the ability to bill the purchase of any of our premium content to your phone bill. Don’t worry – all the free stuff is still free, we’ve just made it easier to purchase the stuff that costs money. Oh, and please don’t tell our PR people I told you about this…we’re supposed to be waiting for the big official release in a couple of weeks, but it’s so cool I couldn’t wait.

Let’s say you wanted to buy a ringtone from one of the thousands of Myxer artists, like Jon Young. He’s got a great track named Sky Skrapin available for purchase through MyxerTones. Sky Skrapin has been assigned a MyxerCodeâ„¢ of 6812, which means you can purchase it (and bill it to your phone bill) just by following these instructions:

“text 6812 to MYXER(69937) to purchase Sky Skrapin by Jon Young”

When you do this, you’ll get a text message back from us stating the purchase price and asking you to confirm your purchase. If you respond with “y” (or “yes”), we’ll deliver the track right to your phone and bill it to your mobile phone bill. You didn’t even have to be at your computer!

Every piece of content in our catalog has a MyxerCode associated with it. If you have an artist account, click on the “Details” link next to an item in on your Share & Sell page to find its MyxerCode. (It’s on the right hand side, under your MyxerTag). We’re waiting on the “official” release of MyxerCodes to really start publicing them on the main site, but artists can start telling their fans about their MyxerCodes at concerts and so forth right now.

Keep a look out for customizable MyxerCodes and other cool new related features to be rolled out in the next few weeks.

As of today, MyxerCodes are supported with the following US carriers:

  • Cingular
  • AT&T
  • Sprint
  • T-Mobile

We’re expecting Verizon to come online here in a couple of weeks.

As always, we love it when you let us know about questions, problems, or suggestions for MyxerTones. Everything we do is focused on making MyxerTones the absolute best way to make and share mobile content, and if you think there’s something we can do to make it better for you, we’d love to know about it.

Search the ever-growing MyxerTones catalog

Thanks to our independent artists, our ringtone and wallpaper catalog is growing everyday. With all that great content out there, we thought it might be good to give you a way to find the stuff you like. So, we just added the ability to search our catalog by artist name or title.

This is just the beginning, we’re planning on adding more options like searching by genre and tags, but wanted to get the basics out to you asap.

Just go to and give it a try. Enjoy!

Sprint problems?

Hey, everyone. We’ve had some people complain that Sprint phones are having problems with the updated website. We’re looking into that right now. In the meantime, please let us know if you’re experiencing problems with your Sprint phone (especially if it used to work for you).
