Some advertisers and brands may find this blog title offensive. But why? Maybe it’s because religion is a touchy subject for some or maybe it’s because there has always been a debate as to who was more badass the Autobots or the Decepticons?
While some brands like to live on the edge, many have concerns about advertising around questionable content. In any case, we here at Myxer always want our advertising partners to feel safe. So how do we achieve this? One way we’ve found over the years is to create custom Content Channels on the web and mobile web, which gives advertisers the power to approve every individual piece of content their brand or campaign is associated with.
In addition to the luxury of feeling 100% safe and secure at all times, channels grant 100% SOV to the advertiser. They also offer the ability to target specific demographics & psychographics based on the theme and content selected. And with a catalog of over 6 million content items ripe for the picking— every channel imaginable can be created.
Now you may be saying to yourself, “this all sounds great, but what do you consider ‘highly engaging’.” Well— Myxer Content Channels continue to generate hundreds of thousands of downloads a month with some of our most successful channels reaching nearly a million downloads over the life of their campaigns.
While brands like GEICO, Skittles, and Ford utilize Myxer to deliver millions of pieces of branded mobile content, this producer sincerely believes that we are just beginning to see brands scratch the surface of what is capable in the world of mobile content sponsorships.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of 21st century, many folks believe their “me” time is on the down-slope. And that’s certainly not hard to fathom with the multitude of outlets which profess— on a daily basis— we are becoming increasingly more distracted by the confluence of technologies we interface with on any given day. A little ironic—considering many of them are designed with the notion of “maximizing” our time in mind— don’t you think?
The flip-side (b-sides are always better!) is that through mediums such as mobile, we can now tailor our consumption to fit our ever-fluctuating schedules like never before. Yep, that even includes the ads and commercials— the ones we might actually like to see (and or hear), like all the hijinks and hilarity of GEICO mobile content!
Hence, more and more folks making are making use of watching all sorts of video programming on the mobile web, watching when and how they want, conveniently on the third screen, and, c’mon— who doesn’t like that idea?
2010 has been a breakout year for mobile advertising, and here at Myxer we have been very fortunate to be a big part of that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with dozens of top brands, assisting them in the development of both effective, and fun, ad campaigns aimed at reaching their target audiences in a range of creative ways.
As we speak with advertisers on a regular basis, one of the things we discover is that they often feel the need to either build their own mobile application, or to buy advertising space within another mobile app, in order to offer users rich experiences on mobile. With all of the press and noise around the rise of apps and app stores, mostly fueled by the marketing machines of the various smart phone platform players, it’s understandable that apps may seem like the only route for advertisers and agencies that really want to succeed at engaging users in increasingly more imaginative and entertaining ways on all the latest touch-screen devices.
Companies like Crisp Wireless and Phluant Mobile, among others, are truly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible within these units, and are able to deliver many of them across iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Palm devices. Additionally, we’re now beginning to see some of these capabilities reach into the world of feature phones, which are still owned by roughly 75% of mobile subscribers.
When you consider some of the most important criteria for advertisers today, there are four that are generally at or near the top of the list:
• Ability to target the desired audience
• Time to market
At Myxer we’ve helped several advertisers launch rich media campaigns this year in a matter of days, using extremely engaging rich media units across our mobile web site, which saw over 11 million unique visitors in the month of September. These brands have saved countless hours and dollars not having to deal with deciding which app platforms to target, not having to endure long creative lead times, and not having to worry about having enough reach against the audience they are trying to find.
