Myxer’s BoomBox: Girl Power!

Female mobile users unite! In the quest to find out who is the most prolific mobile content consumer between the two sexes, females win by a landslide, according to Myxer’s latest BoomBox report for the month of April. In honor of Mother’s Day, Myxer has taken a deep dive into how female consumption habits compare to males, providing fresh insights on unique data broken down by new users, smartphone concentration, content downloads and wireless carriers.

According to the study, for the month of April women downloaded twice the amount of mobile entertainment content as men, representative of 4.5 million downloads, or 67% of total content downloads, compared to 2.2 million downloads for men. This large disparity in downloads is due to two factors; there are roughly 1.7 times as many females as males downloading content from Myxer on a monthly basis, and each female that visits downloads 17% more content than the average male.

Really interesting stuff! Check out the entire report here.

When You Change Scenery, So Does Your Phone…

That’s right. Now, for all the important places you go in your life, you can set your Android phone to display a personalized wallpaper of your choice. With Myxer’s GeoPix, whether you’re headed to work, class, or your favorite concert or sporting event, you can choose a physical location for an image you want as your wallpaper, and then have it “auto-magically” appear as you arrive at your destination. To that end, we’ve launched a new podcast that delivers some of the most popular and most downloaded content from our catalog of over one million ringtones. The podcast, will allow iPhone users to sync mobile content directly from their iTunes.

Subscribing to Myxer’s “Free Hip Hop Ringtones” podcast (currently ranked #2 in Technology category as well as #1 in Gadgets) in iTunes allows you to receive new Myxer ringtones every time you sync. Two new ringtones are added each week, and we’ll soon unveil a wide variety of genre-specific podcasts, so all music fans, no matter what your musical taste, will have something to enjoy.
