Ringtones So Easy A Caveman Could Do it…

I first met the GEICO Caveman at a party at SXSW in 2008.  I was immediately struck by his charm and good looks, as were many others at the party including Robert Scoble and Mashable’s Pete Cashmore (see the picture I took below).  Since that chance meeting with the Caveman, I have been very impressed by GEICO’s ability to manage three very distinct, equally entertaining and effective branding campaigns at the same time.  In addition to the readily recognizable Neanderthal, GEICO’s plucky Gecko and wide-eyed wad of MONEY are also fun, friendly and powerful bits of branding for the Insurance giant.


GEICO Gets It…

Clearly the GEICO team gets the value of entertaining marketing and has wisely leveraged all types of media from traditional TV ads toYouTubeFlickrFacebookTwitter and Mobile to share and spread the fun, never losing sight of the underlying message that GEICO can save you money on your insurance.  They have leveraged new media platforms for both entertainment and practical services as well.  For example the GEICO Glovebox iPhone app lets you do everything from manage your account to learn how to change a tire, to find a taxi or roadside service.  Smart marketing all around.

Ringa Da Ding Ding Dingy Dong…

You have probably seen the GEICO “ringtone” commercials (see below).  Since I work at Myxer I was thrilled to see such a clever use of ringtones in a national TV ad, and at the same time I wished we could have all of GEICO’s great mobile content available to the Myxer community.  Well, sometimes you get what you ask for, and I am very pleased to say that we have partnered with GEICO to offer some awesome (and free) ringtones and wallpapers for your phone.  You can guess which one I have already set as my default ringtone… it’sBOSS!

Myxer Announces Partnership with Sony Music Entertainment

Today we announce another incredible bit of news. We have formed a strategic partnership with Sony Music Entertainment to make Sony Music’s catalog of full-length tracks, music videos, images, and ringtones available to Myxer’s community of more than 35 million music fans. The agreement covers the United States.

As part of the deal, Sony Music artists will be able to make use of Myxer’s MobileStage, a customizable mobile website solution complete with fan-list management features, advanced data analytics, messaging, and other promotional opportunities.

Myxer and Warner Music Group Announce Partnership

Myxer and Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG), today announced a strategic agreement in which WMG will promote its catalog of mobile content including full-length tracks, music videos, images, and ringtones to the more than 34 million music fans within the Myxer community. The agreement covers the U.S. and Canada and content will be available at www.myxer.com/warnermusic.

Additionally, WMG’s artists will have access to Myxer’s MobileStage customizable mobile website solution, complete with fan-list management features, advanced data analytics, messaging, and other marketing opportunities which help artists and record labels better connect with fans. Myxer Sends Lil’ Wayne’s “The Carter” DVD Sales Soaring…

Quincy Jones III (QD3), a leader in urban entertainment, teamed up with us here at Myxer on a new mobile entertainment campaign that shows the power of free mobile content downloads to drive sales of DVDs.
On behalf of QD3, Myxer offered free mobile content from its site to support the new DVD launch of “The Carter with Lil’ Wayne.

Over the course of the four-week campaign, audiences responded very favorably, downloading more than one million pieces of mobile content from the documentary (ringtones, wallpapers, and videos), which led to a 20% increase in DVD sales, which helped drive the DVD to a #5 position on iTunes.

“While we were expecting several hundred thousand downloads of the free mobile content in the one month period, we were blown away by the fact that there were 1.1 million downloads in such a short time period,” said QD3. “It was great to have so many fans of The Carter “broadcasting” and acting as our “DVD ambassadors” as their phones rang and we’re thrilled to have worked with Myxer to create such a huge impact on our sales.”

More Malice, More Mobile: Snoop Dogg & Myxer Join Forces

Myxer and the inimitable Snoop Dogg, announced today a promotional partnership for the upcoming Snoop Dogg release of the CD + DVD combo More Malice – the follow-up to the highly successful original album, Malice N Wonderland. As part of the promotion, Snoop will utilize Myxer’s MobileStage product to deliver exclusive and behind the scenes branded mobile entertainment video content revolving around the upcoming album and mini movie Malice N Wonderland, also to be released with the album, to millions of music and hip-hop fans across Myxer’s platform.
