We’ve moved to a new office!

Now that the move is over, I feel safe in telling everying out there that – until this week – the company behind MyxerTones was operated out of a two bedroom suburban home in South Florida. Really. It’s not that we weren’t a serious operation – oh, if anything, we’re deadly serious people – it’s just that, well, it was a really comfortable house.

Of course, that only works for the first dozen or so employees, and it’s funny to tell reporters and business partners and recruits that you’re “the second house on the right” after turning off the main road. And let me tell you something: if you live in South Florida, you’ve got to be by the water. So we said, wouldn’t it be really sweet if we could actually work by the beach? So, we packed up the U-Haul:

…and moved into our new digs, complete with top floor view of the atlantic ocean and the Deerfield Beach fishing pier. Kick in some surfboards, and this is the kind of place where you can really be happy you’re at work:

I want to tell you a little more about how much fun we had at SxSW, but everybody’s pretty beat right now, what with the move and the festivities and everything else going on. So I’ll save that for another day. In the meantime, we’re delivering more ringtones every day than we did for like the first year we were in operation. So have a great time and make yourself some sweet tones. We’ll be surfing!

MyxerTones at SxSW this week

Boy, long time no post. Don’t worry, we’re still here cranking out new features and scaling out the servers. And more servers. And more servers. Except for this week. This week, ScottK, Geo, and me are headed to Austin to soak in the sounds of South by SouthWest, while the rest of our minions man HQ. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it. ;)

If you’re going to be in Austin for the festivities, keep an eye out for us. Better yet, if your band is playing anytime this week, leave a comment on this post with a plug and we’ll try to stop by to check you out.

Myxer "tags" spotted in S. Florida

Hey, here’s something really funny. Everyone around here knows that MyxerTags are the cool little buttons Myxer gives you to put on your website or MySpace page to distribute ringtones and wallpapers. But here’s someone using a different kind of Myxer “tag.” Kurt was driving to work this morning and got behind this car:

Might be a little hard to read, but it’s a MYXRR tag!

What’s even funnier is to think about how Kurt was driving alone when he spotted this – going 80 miles an hour on I-95 in South Florida – and managed to snap not one, but two, shots with his digital camera.

Hey, while I’m here, I may as well tease you with a little riddle of sorts. Let’s play a game. Let’s call it “What’s Myxer up to next?” and let’s kick it off with a hint in the form of the following image:

ScottC sent me that image this morning as part of a new feature we’re working on. First of all, anybody know where this image came from? And second of all, can you guess why we’re playing with it? You’ll find out soon enough…

Oh, finally, be sure you’ve checked out MyxerMagic, which is “the coolest thing ever” according to some very reliable sources. Send any image on the web to your mobile phone – right from your web browser!

OK, have fun out there everybody. Later!

Introducing MyxerMagic – send any image from the web to your phone!

We’re really excited to finally unveil MyxerMagic web extensions! MyxerMagic is a really cool new feature that leverages the MyxerTones website to add a send to my phone option to your web browser. For all of those wallpaper addicts out there (you know who you are!), this is going to really open up a whole new set of possibilities.

Let’s say you like puppies. I mean, you really like puppies. So you want to set your phone’s wallpaper to this Jack Russell photo you found on your favorite puppy website. (Work with me here, people. It’s hard to find examples that speak to everybody.) Anyway, this is what life was like before:

“Gee, I really wish I could use that puppy picture for my phone’s wallpaper.”

Rest of the World:

[ignores you, choosing instead to continue old habit of coming up with new ways to blow up people and things more effectively.]

But now, thanks to MyxerMagic and your friends at Myxer (who like to spend their time building cool things rather than blowing them up), life just got better:

“Gee, I really wish I could use that puppy picture for my phone’s wallpaper.”

Go for it!

So there you have it! We’ve got MyxerMagic working with both Firefox (1.5 and 2.0) and Internet Exploiter (6 and 7), so go install it and start sending those puppies to your phone!
