On Myxer:

1. Sign into Myxer and go to the Account -> Change SMS Address page
2. Enter your email address (ignore the warning) and verify it by clicking in the confirmation message we send to that address
3. When you click to send ringtones and wallpapers to your phone you will receive an email to your email address instead
4. Follow the link in the email and save the song or image file to your computer

On Your Computer (Windows):

1. Connect Pre to your computer with the USB cable.
2. Tap “USB Drive” option
3. Browse to the drive with Windows Explorer (The device will be mounted as a drive named “PALM PRE”),
4. Drag music files (mp3) to the “ringtones” folder and/or images to the “wallpapers” folder (the one without  the “.” in front)
    

On The Pre:

Ringtones:

1. Tap Sounds & Ringtones
2. Tap “RINGTONE”
3. Tap desired ringtone to set or play button to preview
4. Enjoy!

Wallpapers:

1. Tap Photos
2. In full size view tap top left (square with arrow)
3. Tap “Set wallpaper”
4. Tap “Set Wallpaper” again 
5. Enjoy!

Myxer Games section

Greetings, loyal MyxerFans — there is some excellent news on the mobile games front, and we wanted to share it with you ASAP.

We just fixed a bug within our Games section, which has probably affected a great many of you for the better. Thanks to Myxer’s genius TechTeamâ„¢, folks using the mobile carriers mentioned below should check out our games section — we’ve updated our delivery system for these carriers, which means you might be able to snag gobs of ad-supported (read: free!) games for your phone:

• Sprint
• AT&T
• T-Mobiles (some, but not all, handsets are supported)

You’ve probably been using Myxer long enough to know that we’re committed to improving our service and delivery. To do that, we need your feedback! Please leave comments here on the blog if you have either a good or bad experience downloading games to your phone. Thanks!

In the meantime, please follow the instructions displayed after you click the ‘Send to Phone’ button and download the ringtone to your phone then send it to your phone using your favorite email program. It doesn’t matter which one you use. If it doesn’t work the first time or if you get an error message, please just try it again. It can be a little flakey sometimes, but it should eventually work.

Thanks for all of your posts. We’re still working on being able to send the ringtones directly. We’ll definitely let you know as soon as anything changes.

I’ve noticed a few posts suggesting copying the file to your sd memory card instead of using email. That’s a great idea! Using email is just one way to get the file to your phone. If you can copy it to your sd memory card that should work too.

Not receiving the message? We send the ringtone messages as soon as you request them, but sometimes it takes the carriers, especially Verizon, a while to deliver them. If it’s been longer than 20-30 minutes since you sent the message, double check that you have PIX messaging enabled on your phone and that you have a valid email address on your MyxerTones account and try resending it. Be patient. You should eventually receive the messages.

Can’t sent the song as your ringtone? Bummer, dude. Go to the My Account -> Phone Details page and check to make sure that you have selected the correct make and model for your phone. Not having the right info on your account may prevent us from sending the ringtone in the right format for your phone.

If you have one of the phones below, sorry, but the ability to use downloaded songs on those phones has been disabled by Verizon or the phone manufacturer. Unfortunately, that’s out of our control and there’s nothing we can do to fix it. It’s a real bummer for us too.

The ringtone doesn’t sound too good on your Razr? For some reason the songs we send by default are converted into QCP files before they are delivered. Since QCP is a pretty low quality format, they ringtones may not sound so good on your phone.

If you would like a higher quality sound, feel free to go to the My Account -> Phone Preferences page and change the default ringtone format to WAV. So why not always do this? Well, the drawback is that since WAV files are high quality, the files are really big and you’ll have to customize your ringtones and make them no longer than 7 seconds long.

I’m not sure whether they’re having “technical difficulties” over there, or if this is some kind of crazy scheme to extort money from us (ha ha! have you seen how much we’re (not) charging around here?), but I thought I’d make a note of it and ask anyone to let us know if you’re having problems integrating MyxerTones with MySpace.

Boy, I hope they’re not doing this on purpose, because there are plenty of other online social networks that I’m sure our million+ users would love to have MyxerTones endorse…

Bill has updated a previous post with the current state of the Verizon world (as we know it), but I wanted to write a quick note to make sure everyone saw it. The best news is that the RAZR and KRZR (along with several other popular phones) are now working with the same good quality that they used to have before all this nonsense started.

Thanks to everyone for your patience as we worked to get these issues resolved. You wouldn’t believe how complicated this stuff can get! Oh, BTW, we know you poor Samsung Axxx users are still not too happy, and we haven’t given up on you.

6/12/07 UPDATE

We’ve got ringtones working (and sounding good) on more phones with the latest updates we’ve just made to the site.  Be sure you’ve set your phone details correctly and don’t have any ringtone overrides set if your phone is listed as working below.  Here is what we’re currently seeing:

Audiovox CDM-8940 works

LG – seems like most are working again but we’ve specifically tested the following:
VX9900 (enV)
VX8500 (Chocolate)
VX8300
VX8000
VX7000
VX6000
VX5300

Motorola – mixed results
working – Razr (V3), E815, V710, Krzr (K1M), L7C
sort of working – V325 (doesn’t sound very good, but you can set it as a ringtone)

We just tried the Razr again and the ringtone is saved as a sound but you can still set it as a ringtone from ‘Get It Now’.

Nokia 6315I works

Samsung – mixed results
working - SCH-U series (SCH-U740, SCH-U620)
not working - SCH-A series (SCH-A870, SCH-A930)
SCH-A950 seems to work with AWB or MP3 format sometimes

We have received feedback that AMR or WAV works on the SCH-A series so you could try those formats. However, WAV files are very large which cause the ringtones to be fairly short (6 to 10 seconds).

We are seeing new developments every day so stay tuned, we’ll keep the blog updated.

[UPDATE 4/21: We think we've worked around Verizon's changes and gotten things working again. If you have a Verizon phone, make sure you've specified your phone model on the phone details page so that we can twiddle the right bits to get ringtones to you correctly.]

This is happening on the Motorola V3 Razr, Motorola V325, and possibly some other phones. There also seems to be something weird happening with the Samsung A950. That phone just doesn’t seem to be working anymore. We’ve had some users tell us that they are getting errors when they receive the message on their phone and others say that there is no sound attached. Aarg!

Please let us know if you are are having any problems or if you have found a new ringtone format that works better for your Verizon phone.

In the meantime, we are trying everything we can think of on our end. We’ll let you know if we find anything. Stay tuned…
