Vampire takeover: “Lost Boys” ringtones at Myxer.com

“One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach: all the damn vampires….”
–Grandpa, The Lost Boys

Waaay back in 1987, a low-budget vampire flick called The Lost Boys grabbed America by the … ah … veins and became a bona-fide pop culture phenom. Starring the Coreys (Feldman and Haim) and Keifer “I’m now a god starring in 24” Sutherland, the movie was a scary, fun and funny romp into the (un)lives of bloodsuckers and the teenagers tasked to hunt them.

Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer – except 10 years before Buffy was a glimmer in creator Joss Whedon’s eye.

Now, 21 years later, Lost Boys: The Tribe will be unleashed on video tomorrow … and Myxer is the exclusive provider for The Tribe ringtones and wallpapers for your mobile phone. All the content is ad-supported (read: free), and up for grabs right now at the site.

The sequel takes us to the shady surf city of Luna Bay, where vampire surfers murder anyone who crosses their path. When shy girl Nicole unwittingly drinks the blood of a vampire, her brother Chris must locate and destroy the gang’s Head Vampire before his sister’s transformation is complete. There’s gobs of references to characters from the original film, and the best part — “Holy ***! The attack of Eddie Munster!” —  features appearances from The Lost Boys actors the Coreys, and Jamison Newlander.

We’re stoked for its release, as the original Lost Boys was a vamp flick that most definitely did not suck. Check out the free mobile content at Myxer, and get ready for Lost Boys: The Tribe coming to video tomorrow!

Myxer teams with The Orchard, brings 1+ million ringtones to Myxer.com

Hold the phone, Myxer fans: we’re bringing you some awesome ringtones to the site in the weeks ahead!

Last Thursday, we announced a history-making arrangement with The Orchard, a global leader in digital music and entertainment distribution. This deal brings more than 1 million new ringtones to the Myxer site.

Let’s put this into perspective: If you could somehow read the song title for each of these ringtones every second, day and night, it’d take you more than a month to read ‘em all.

Them’s a lot of ringtones.

We’re currently importing this killer content into our catalog, and will be releasing them on the site in waves. Expect 1.1 million tracks from thousands of bands, from hundreds of indie labels, including Definitive Jux, Park theVan, DIM MAK, BCD Music Group, Nuclear Blast, Greensleeves, Musart/Balboa and many more. Many of these will be premium ringtones, but some will be highlighted as ad-supported (free of charge) Myxer Picks of the Day.

“Myxer’s goal is to make it incredibly easy for people to get the mobile content they want, when they want it, period,” says our fearless leader, Myk Willis. “And our new partnership with The Orchard helps us further that mission.”

Rock on, a million times over. Hope you Myxer fans enjoy the new content!

Latest Verizon Wireless News

I just wanted to let you all know that we are still working to be able to send ringtones directly to Verizon Wireless phones again. We’re making progress and hope to have it fixed soon.

In the meantime, please follow the instructions displayed after you click the ‘Send to Phone’ button and download the ringtone to your phone then send it to your phone using your favorite email program. It doesn’t matter which one you use. If it doesn’t work the first time or if you get an error message, please just try it again. It can be a little flakey sometimes, but it should eventually work.

Thanks for your patience. If you have a question, please send a note to our support team and someone will get back to you lickety split.

—- 7/31 UPDATE —-

Thanks for all of your posts. We’re still working on being able to send the ringtones directly. We’ll definitely let you know as soon as anything changes.

I’ve noticed a few posts suggesting copying the file to your sd memory card instead of using email. That’s a great idea! Using email is just one way to get the file to your phone. If you can copy it to your sd memory card that should work too.

Enjoy!
Marsha
